Let's get acquainted with the application presented by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). An application to find out the dangers of disaster around us and the efforts that we can do independently. This application uses the results of a study developed by the National Disaster Management Agency with related Ministries/Institutions and the support of disaster organizations in Indonesia.
The applications presented by the National Disaster Management Agency consist of:
- Indonesian Disaster Data and Information Application or DIBI which displays a database of disaster events. This database can be useful for conducting disaster analysis and studies in Indonesia. How to access it, users can explore the menus available in the application.
- InaRISK Application. If the DIBI application focuses on disaster events that have occurred in Indonesia and is proven by data related to the disaster, the InaRISK Application provides information on potential disaster risks in an area.
Indonesian Disaster Data and Information Application or DIBI Aplication
The first step is that users can access the gis.bnpb.go.id site. On the home page, users can see a map display of the distribution of disaster events per province. Pop ups at the point of the number of disaster events per province can be seen the number of disaster events, victims died, missing, injured, suffered and damage impact data per province.
On the 'Disaster Monitoring' tab, users can filter based on the type of disaster event, province and district or city where a natural disaster has occurred.
The 'Bulletin' tab contains monthly disaster information about disaster events every month. While on the story map, users can access data and information on disaster events for that month. This information is available in Indonesian and English. In addition, infographics and important dates are in sequence of large-magnitude disasters that occurred. This disaster data can be downloaded in excel format from 2008 to 2019.
Meanwhile, by accessing gis.bnpb.go.i/dibi, users can view disaster data from 400 AD to the present. The data is presented in a mobile version, making it easier for the general public to search for disaster data anytime, anywhere. One example is the recorded disaster in the Mentawai Islands.
Then there is the 'SFDRR' tab which follows developments based on the Sendai Framework and can be selected in absolute terms or divided on a per 100,000 population basis.
InaRisk Application
The InaRISK application provides information on potential disaster risks in an area. The InaRISK analysis utilizes a national raster base approach with a pixel size of 100 x 100 meters, based on an assessment of disaster risk in an area or per district.
The use of InaRisk, one example of which is the earthquake risk index in Indonesia. Areas that are above vulnerable bedrock (such as mountains) will be very at risk of causing massive casualties and damage in the event of a disaster. In more detail, the disaster risk index data in InaRISK can also be viewed by district or city in the search menu.
InaRISK Indonesia is an asset of the Government of Indonesia. Not only BNPB has contributed to the data, but as many as 20 agencies have validated their data into InaRISK for use by the public or users.
Thus the introduction of the DIBI Application and the InaRISK Application, so that the Indonesian people in particular and the world community in general can be more aware of the dangers of disasters around us and the efforts that we can do independently.
