Indonesia, which relies on oil for its energy consumption, is projected to only last enough for the next few years due to its depleting reserves.
In fact, the energy crisis is a big challenge, because the need for energy cannot be separated from the history of human civilization. Whether we realize it or not, in this era, humans need energy in almost every aspect of their lives.
Looking at the area owned by Indonesia, the possibility of finding new oil reserves is still large. Oil and gas exploration cannot be separated from the cooperation between the government as a policy maker, and investors who will carry out the policy. Therefore, various strategic steps are needed from the government to encourage investment in oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities.
Energy policy can be implemented through:
1. Energy Conservation, namely by encouraging the use of energy efficiently and rationally without reducing the use of energy that is really needed through:
- Conservation on the generator side
- Reducing consumption of electricity that is consumptive, beauty, comfort
- Replacing inefficient equipment
- Regulate the use of electrical equipment
2. Energy Diversification, namely efforts to diversify the supply and utilization of various energy sources in the context of optimizing energy supply. For example, by making efforts:
- Replacing fuel oil with bio-diesel (bio-diesel) and bio-ethanol
- Build a hydroelectric power station in the countryside
- Reduce fuel oil generators and replace them with non-fuel generators
3. Energy Intensification, namely searching for new energy sources in order to increase energy reserves to be used to generate electricity
So will there be an energy crisis in Indonesia, given the abundance of energy resources that Indonesia has?
